Projects

Good Practice Case Examples

NGOs often do not have the mandate, capacity or funds to develop or review their programmes with regard to animal welfare. However, as animal welfare is a defining factor for the success of rural development programmes, it needs to be considered and included.

This platform addresses those needs in particular by providing good practice cases as model examples for organizations who want to improve their overall project performance.

Good practice cases can provide knowledge on how to operationalize welfare related considerations like appropriate environmental, nutritional, health and behavioural conditions which promote a positive mental state of the animals involved in development projects.

They also report the challenges implementing NGOs have to overcome when animals are a part of projects, many of which have to do with capacity building and lack of resources and infrastructure among others.
