Projects

Tools & Resources
Animals are usually a key component of development cooperation projects, especially in rural contexts. However, many of them ignore basic animal welfare considerations which causes welfare issues that could be avoid or prevented.
Even though this is still not a major focus in projects, organizations come to understand that the success and sustainability of a project is only possible when the wellbeing of all, people, animals and environment is taken into account.
Some tools and standard operation practices (SOPs) have been developed to guide and support organizations on how to design and implement future development cooperation projects which can better take into account the welfare of animals.
There is also good practice available that other governmental and non-governmental organizations can learn from to include animals’ needs and provide better care for them in rural development projects.
